It’s high school musical season!

It’s high school musical season once again, and stages across the county are humming with show tunes. This year, several schools have turned to classic musicals, including Warwick High School.

“We chose ‘Hello, Dolly!’ because we were looking for a show that was a good fit for the students that we currently have in the music department,” says Deb Kline-Smith, director. “We also were looking for a show that was entertaining, fun-loving and had good, quality and memorable tunes that the audience would leave humming.” (The show is also being performed at Conestoga Valley High School.)

Getting high school students excited about a show that was first performed in 1964 wasn’t too difficult, she says, noting, “Once they heard the music, they relived the same excitement that we as directors felt when we heard this music for the first time. The humor in this show is timeless, and they have discovered this very quickly in the rehearsal process.”
