Havana Nights gala is Oct. 12
It may officially be autumn in October, but the Board of Venture Lititz will make it feel like summer has been extended with their tropical annual fundraising gala, Havana Nights.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, from 7 to 10 p.m., Brownstone Manor at the corner of Orange and Broad streets will be transformed into a Cuban courtyard, with brightly colored building facades and terraces. Tables will be interlaced among tropical plants and a trickling fountain. This unforgettable evening will have guests roaming the indoor patio enjoying complimentary cocktails, beer and wine, and getting into the rhythm of the high energy, multitalented band, Mama Tried.
A signature tropical drink will be offered by the folks from Stoll & Wolfe Distillery. In addition to a beef tenderloin carving station, there will be lechon, a roast pork (with mojo sauce) carving station, and other bona fide Cuban specialties like moros y cristianos (rice and black beans), and platanos (fried sweet plantains). Also served will be butlered heavy hors d’oeuvres with a Latino flair, including mini-chicken empanadas, crispy Cuban pork spring rolls with chimichurri sauce, and candied walnut and blue cheese stuffed mushrooms, along with mini-crab cakes and bacon wrapped scallops.
The evening ends with some sultry sweet treats, strong but tasty café Cubano, and (maybe, if you want one) a cigar outside by a 1950s classic American car.
Tropical attire is encouraged. This is a 21 and over event.
The cost is $75 per person; ticket prices raise to $85 after Oct. 1. Tickets can be purchase at the General Sutter Inn, 14 E. Main St.; Aaron’s Books, 35 E. Main St.; Hotel Rock Lititz, 50 Rock Lititz Boulevard; or at eventbrite.com
