Red Rose Chorus welcomes visitors this fall for free singing lessons and lots of fun!

Men of all ages are invited to participate in free singing workshop provided through the Red Rose Chorus, Lancaster’s premier men’s chorus.

Lori Jo Whitehaus, the Red Rose Chorus’ musical director, is teaching a free course titled, “Ready, Set, Sing!”

“Give us six Tuesday evenings, “ Whitehaus said, “and we will give you the skills you need to experience the fun of group singing.”

Sessions run Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. for one hour each, from Sept. 18 to Oct. 30 at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren at 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster. Singers of all skill levels are invited and all learning materials are free.

“You don’t need to be able to read music,” Whitehaus said. “We’ll teach you everything you need to know to sing richly and with resonance to produce ear-pleasing harmony. Our participants will quickly be producing beautiful harmony without the aid of a piano and in the company of a great bunch of fellow singers.”

“In our experience, we have found that everyone sings, whether it be church, in the car, or in the shower, people have a natural desire to express themselves in song,.” Jim Herrick, president of the Red Rose Chorus, said. “But many of us are unsure about singing in front of others. Through this program we want to help men get the most beautiful sound possible from their voice.”

Advanced registrations are appreciated, while walk-ins will be welcome. Contact the group at 717-783-8850. Visit to learn more about the group.

Red Rose Chorus is part of the 24,000-member Barbershop Harmony Society and meets Tuesdays at Lancaster Church of the Brethren.
