Free ice cream social and live music at Oehme Gardens

By on August 16, 2017

Lititz Historical Foundation will host a free concert and ice cream social in Mary Oehme Gardens on Sunday, Sept. 3. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. The gardens are located behind 145 E. Main St.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Rizzetta’s Tones, a Celtic and folk band from Lancaster. The band is comprised of “fraternal twin” hammered dulcimers, silver flute, high and low whistles, and guitars. They often spice up the sound with button accordion, autoharp, Greek bouzouki, mandolin, ukulele, as well as doumbek, cajon, djembe, and other percussion instruments. All four members take turns singing lead and background vocals on songs, both poignant and humorous. Their repertoire includes music from Ireland, Scotland, and the United States also drawing from the traditions of Finland, Brazil, France, Macedonia, and many other lands.

The event is sponsored by Woodstream Corporation. Ice cream will be compliments of Greco’s of Lititz. There will also be an old-fashioned cake walk that evening during intermission.

Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The entire evening is free and open to the public. Call the historical foundation at 717-627-4636 with any questions.
