EPAC will auction redware plate signed by actor Jonathan Groff

By on June 17, 2015

Local artisan and retired Ephrata Area School district teacher Andrew Loercher is well-known in Lancaster County for his exquisite redware pottery. Now he has created a unique plate that will be auctioned on eBay the week of June 21 to benefit the Future Generations campaign at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center.

The plate is one-of-a-kind not only because he has made no others like it; it has also been autographed by Jonathan Groff — star of Broadway, film, and television — who hails from Lancaster County. Jonathan performed the voice of Kristoff in Disney’s “Frozen.” Andrew and Jonathan have a local connection through EPAC, where both have performed.

Andrew asked Jonathan to etch his name into the pottery before it was fired and painted. The signature is thus part of the design, not just added to the back after the plate was finished.

Details of the auction will be posted on the theater’s website: ephrataperformingartscenter.com.

Actor Jonathan Groff’s signature is part of the artistic design of a handcrafted Redware plate to be auctioned on eBay by EPAC next week.
