Gretna Music opens its summer Gretna Music 4 Kids season June 22, with the Ahn Trio. The season continues July 13 with “Havana Hop!” The season concludes August 10, with an interactive show by the Akropolis Reed Quintet.

All performances are at 11 a.m. at the Mount Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Gretna.

June 22 –The Ahn Trio’s performance teaches children the basic elements of music through an interactive show that encourages various expressions of creativity.

July 13 — Sensory friendly show “Havana Hop!” created and performed by Paige Hernandez tells the story of a young girl named Yeila who is seeking confidence. The participatory play teaches kids ages 4 to 8 about the dance style of salsa infused hip-hop.

Aug. 10 — Akropolis Reed Quintet’s show is fun for the whole family. Kids are encouraged to bring paper and crayons for a draw what you hear activity.

Summer theatre for kids in Gretna

Saturday mornings this summer, watch your favorite stories come to life onstage through Gretna Theatre Kids Series. Plus, every kid who attends a show will receive a sweet treat provided by The Hershey Company. The season features five fun productions based on popular children’s stories. All shows start at 11 a.m.

These hour-long shows deliver real-life lessons in a welcoming, kid-friendly environment that’s both creative and affordable. They’re written especially for kids in grades K-6 and their grown-up friends. Shows this season include:

The Brave Little Tailor — June 15. Faced with a series of challenges, the tailor defeats giants, a ferocious dragon, and saves his kingdom.

The Rainbow Fish — June 29. A new musical with its wonderful message of friendship and belonging.

Aladdin — July 20. A two-person stage adaptation of the story of the Genie helping Aladdin overcome a greedy sorceress and win the heart of a princess.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears — July 27. Goldilocks, on a trip into the forest, ventures into a seemingly uninhabited house. In the process of making herself feel at home, she turns the place into a gigantic mess! Little does she know that the house belongs to a family of three bears.

Pinocchio — Aug. 3. The musical journey of a puppet into a real live boy.
