Eicher Arts welcomes back Helena Protopapas

By on August 10, 2016

Violinist Helena Protopapas will display her musical and artistic talents Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Eicher Arts Center in Ephrata.

Admission is free to the performance at the historic Eicher House, located at 409 Cocalico St., in Ephrata Borough’s Grater Park. Refreshments will be provided.

Protopapas’ original music reflects wide-ranging influences, from the Asian Indian music played by her parents, to her Western classical music training to the musical influences of places she has visited around the world.

She is also a visual artist. In an introductory part of her performance, she will show videos of her travels this year to Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands in June; and Switzerland in July; helping to set the stage for music she will play that was inspired by those locations.

A classically trained violinist, Protopapas will add layers to her music at times by playing the loop pedal with her feet to repeat small sections of her violin’s sounds.
