The Ephrata Concert Band will perform an array of patriotic music at its admission-free concert July 5 at 7:15 p.m. at the bandshell in Ephrata Borough’s Grater Park.

Carl Tobias, who served as conductor of the band from 1986 to 2009, will be back on the bandshell for this performance, leading the musicians in playing works by such composers as Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, and John Philip Sousa.

The public is invited to bring folding chairs to the event, the third of six summer concerts by the band.

In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be moved inside the Ephrata Recreation Center a few blocks away at 130 S. Academy Drive.

The audience will be invited to sing along with the band’s music on three of the most famous patriotic numbers, “Battle Hymn,” Berlin’s “God Bless America” and S. A. Ward’s “America the Beautiful.”

The band will play three of Sousa’s works: “Hail to the Statue of Liberty,” “Liberty Bell March” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Carl Tobias, shown here leading the Ephrata Concert Band during a special appearance last year, will be leading the band again at a July 5 concert. He was conductor of the band from 1986 to 2009, and is now conductor emeritus.
