Celebrate ‘Christmas at Church Square’ on Dec. 9

The Lititz Historical Foundation, in conjunction with the Lititz Moravian Archives Committee, are partnering to help Lititz get in the holiday spirit.

A community Christmas carol sing will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Church Square, in front of Lititz Moravian Church, in the 200 block of East Main Street.

The Moravian Trombone Choir will be on hand and free song sheets will be handed out containing holiday classics. Afterwards, all are welcome inside Fellowship Hall for light refreshments.

The next evening, Friday, Dec. 9, “Christmas at Church Square” will explore the historical side of Christmas, with a Lititz twist.

The Lititz Museum, 137 E. Main St., will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Come explore this free attraction, and don’t forget to shop the gift shop. Light refreshments will be available.

Next door, timed tours of the 1792 Johannes Mueller House will be free of charge. Tickets must be picked up the Lititz Museum beforehand that evening. Tours begin every 15 minutes, between 5 and 8 p.m.

Period costumed docents will be located throughout this historic home to answer questions, as attendees discover what life was like in the closed Moravian town of Lititz.

In addition, Lititz Moravian Church Square will be offering free attractions including:

  • Free tours of the 1763 Lititz Moravian Coffee kitchen;
  • Moravian historian Dale Shelley will be located in the church’s sanctuary, and will discuss the history of the Moravian star every half hour;
  • The Lititz Moravian Archives Museum will be open and light refreshment will be available in Eschbach Parlor.
