The Ephrata Cloister Chorus will present its annual spring concert on Sunday, May 22, at 4 p.m. The Cloister is located at 632 W. Main St., Ephrata.

This concert will be held in the historic meetinghouse at Ephrata Cloister. Admission includes a tour of the museum, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $7 for youth 6-17, and $5 for children ages 3-5.

Music of the historic Ephrata Cloister and other early American communities will be sung. In addition, hymns of the German Reformed and Lutheran tradition will be included in the program. The concert will feature the premiere of a newly commissioned piece entitled “A Chorale Celebration,” arranged by Dr. Daryl Hollinger, former director of the Cloister Chorus, and now professor of music at Columbia College in Sonora, Calif.; and director of music at First Congregational UCC in Murphys, Calif. This new work combines the Lutheran chorale “A Mighty Fortress is our God,” by Martin Luther; with the German Reformed chorale “Open Now the Gates of Beauty,” composed by Joachim Neander.
