Christmas on Main in New Holland is Dec. 1

The New Holland Business Association will host Christmas on Main in downtown New Holland on Saturday, Dec. 1. Activities are planned from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. An annual tradition, Christmas on Main offers a family-friendly, community-based way to celebrate the holiday season. Local businesses, organizations and churches open their doors to the community and offer free events.

Highlights for the day include:

Children’s Breakfast on Main: 8 to 11 a.m. Children and their families are invited to breakfast at St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St. A live nativity with animals and a craft to take home will be featured. Children are encouraged to bring an item for the CrossNet Food Bank to place beside the manger.

Indoor Christmas Market: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Local vendors will be selling a variety of items including gifts, Christmas decorations and food for your holiday entertaining inside the Farmer’s Fair building at the corner of South Roberts Avenue and Franklin Street.

Food Vendors: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The New Holland Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 48, Cub Scouts Pack 148, Hen House Grilling, Lancaster County Soft Pretzel and NiCE SiZE FRiES will be selling delicious food along South Roberts Avenue.

Train Room Open House: 1:30 to 4 p.m. Garden Spot Village Train Room will host their holiday open house at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave.. Everyone is invited to enjoy the heavily detailed display which includes Thomasville, a working waterfall, a drive-in movie theatre, a Ford dealership and more. More than enough train activity for everyone. No admission fee, but donations are appreciated.

Carriage Rides: 4 to 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy one-way carriage rides starting from the corner of Roberts Avenue and Main Street and Meadow Creek Barbecue Supply, 140 W. Main St. The Rotary Club of New Holland will assist with loading and unloading passengers.

Hay Rides: 4 to 7 p.m. New Holland North America will provide hay rides, leaving from the corner of Roberts Avenue and Main Street.

Santa’s Arrival: 4:30 p.m. Santa will arrive with the help of Garden Spot Fire Rescue. He will greet guests at his home on the corner of North Roberts Avenue and Main Street, provided by Lapp Structures.

Christmas Carols: 5-6 p.m. Garden Spot High School Vocal Ensemble will sing Christmas carols as they stroll down Main Street.

Community Christmas Tree Lighting: 7 p.m. The community Christmas tree, located at the corner of North Roberts and Main Street, will be lit.
