The Kiwanis Club of the Lititz Area starts selling tickets to the 14th annual Lititz Chocolate Walk July 1. Tickets can be purchased online at Lititzchocolatewalk.com.

Always held the Saturday before Columbus Day, this year’s walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 10. The number of tickets are limited, with all money raised going to support children’s charities.

The Chocolate Walk provides tourist dollars to the local economy, and some participants come from as far away as California.

It has been a win for the people who come and enjoy all the fantastic chocolate treats, but it has been a bigger win for the children that benefit from all the proceeds.

All the chefs and chocolatiers donate their time and tasty treats, the merchants open their doors providing locations for the chocolatiers, and the sponsors help cover the costs of the event.

This is an important year for Kiwanis as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. And in those 20 years, the club has raised more than $475,000 for children’s charities. The Chocolate Walk alone raised more than $400,000. As part of Kiwanis International, a worldwide organization devoted to helping the children of the world, the Kiwanis Club of the Lititz Area contributes to many local charities who rely on support from the Chocolate Walk. This year Kiwanis International celebrates its 100th anniversary.

For more information on the Chocolate Walk, sponsorship opportunities, or Kiwanis membership, call the Chocolate Walk hotline at 560-2295.

Online ticket prices are $32.50; people buying tickets in person get a $2.50 discount when paying in cash or check. A list of selling locations is available at lititzchocolatewalk.com and on the Lititz Chocolate Walk Facebook page.
