Chili chefs sought for Sept. 18 cook-off at polo grounds

Think your chili’s got game? Bring your secret recipe to the Lancaster Polo Club Chili Cook-off on Sept. 18 and find out.

The event will be held at Forney Field on Church Street, in Rothsville. The polo match (and contest) begin at 2:30 p.m. Contestants in the competition should plan to arrive an hour earlier with their warm chili. There is no entry fee.

Polo fans will taste a variety of chili creations and vote for their favorite batches under the designated tent that day. There will be a donation table to benefit the The ARC of Lancaster, an organization serving children who need rehabilitative and developmental therapy.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first- ($100), second- ($75), and third-place ($50) chilis. Tables, power cords and all tasting/voting supplies will be provided.
