LR20160414_WalkingtourFor Cory Van Brookhoven, local history has always been a passion, and now, the area resident is launching Historic Lititz Walking Tours, LLC.

Beginning at the entrance to the Lititz Springs Park, the 45-minute stroll through time will travel eastward along Main Street, and conclude at the Julius Sturgis Pretzel House.

Along the way, guests will discover the unique history behind such places as the Lititz Springs Park, Mary Dixon Chapel, the Pilgerhaus, and Rudy Hall. They’ll also learn about the life of early residents like John Sutter, Johannes Mueller, Christian Schropp, and many others.

“I’m thrilled to share my passion for Lititz history with guests on the tour,” Van Brookhoven said recently.

Tours, which begin April 21, will be available Thursday through Saturdays, at five different times per day.

Visit lititzwalkingtours.com to book a tour. April and May dates are available online, with summer dates constantly being added.

As an introductory bonus, guests can enjoy 15 percent off their total online order by entering the code LITITZ at checkout through May 7.

Lititz was named a Distinctive Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2009, and recognized as America’s Coolest Small Town in 2013.

Van Brookhoven has authored several books on Lititz area history and serves as the president of the Lititz Historical Foundation. He is also a history feature writer for the Lititz Record Express.
