Al Olah and Donna (Carson) Olah celebrate their 50th anniversary next week. The couple married June 14, 1969 at First United Church in Hellertown, with a reception held at Indian Valley Country Club, Telford. They honeymooned in Virginia Beach.

The Olahs moved to Lititz in 1970 when Al graduated from Penn State University and began his career as a landscape architect at McCloud, Scatchard, Derck, and Edson, and later at Rettew Associates for 28 years. Donna graduated from Bloomsburg State and received her master’s degree at Millersville University. She taught at Lititz Elementary, Warwick Middle School, and then for 26 years at Linden Hall, where she served as director of middle school.

The Olahs are active members of the Lititz Moravian Congregation. Al has served as a trustee, a cemetery board member, and sings with the senior choir. Donna is a charter member of the memorial handbell choir and serves as a lovefeast denier and Mission Gift Shop volunteer. Both are on the archives committee.

Al served a total of 30 years as a member of Lititz Borough Council, Lititz Zoning Board, and Historical Advisory Committee. He was an active member of Lititz Jaycees and Lititz AMBUCS, where he designed and built sets for their annual musicals. Donna is a board member of the Lititz Historical Foundation, and serves as the manager of the Lititz Museum Gift Shop. She is a current member of Lititz Woman’s Club and former member of Lititz Jaycettes, Lititz Jaycee Women, and ABWA. Together, they volunteer at the Fulton Theater and Lititz Library.

The Olahs raised two children: Jonathan and Karin, who both graduated from Warwick and have blessed them with five grandchildren: Liam, Alex, Desmond, Alison, and Emma. They treasure their 38 years living on Main Street and the many friends they made.

The Olahs enjoy their retirement at Traditions of America at Lititz, where Al chairs the architectural review committee. They are active with golf, bocce, line dancing, and social groups. Together they enjoy visiting their son’s family in Virginia, their daughter’s family in South Carolina, and winter trips to Florida.

Donna and Al celebrated their 50th anniversary with a cruise to Italy, Greece, and Croatia. They look forward to spending time with their family this summer.
