Lititz -

The Lititz Odd Fellows easily could have won all three of their games last week.

But after letting a late 10-6 lead slip away in an 11-10 eight-inning loss to Solanco last Tuesday, July 1, the Odd Fellows saw Strasburg-Willow Street rally from a 10-6 hole with five runs in the bottom of the seventh for an 11-10 win last Wednesday.

And with that, Lititz ended the week just 1-2, giving them a 7-3 record in the Lanco Midget School League standings with just five games left in the regular season.

The Odd Fellows' game against St. Leo on Monday night was postponed due to rain.

"We did enough to win, but the outcome wasn't there," Lititz boss Frank Camera said of last week's games. "We could be 10-0 or 9-1."

The Odd Fellows earned their only win of the week by defeating Garden Spot 16-8 last Monday, June 30. With two key players unavailable, Lititz overcame being short-handed by pounding out 17 hits in the win.

Jordan Donmoyer tossed three shutout innings and struck out seven of the nine batters he faced for the win. He walked none and didn't allow any hits.

"(Jordan) looked really good, but we had to conserve him for later in the week," Camera said.

His teammates supported him by jumping to a 9-0 lead through three innings off of GS starter Chris Friedley.

The Odd Fellows scored three in the first, as Dylan Adams singled and scored on Kyle Keener's RBI base hit. Chad Snader and Andy Woolley also added RBI base knocks.

Then they added five more in the second. Justin Nolt and Adams got it started with base hits and both runners scored on J.T. Garner's bases-clearing triple. After Nate Lawrence hit a sac fly, Keener singled, Donmoyer was hit by a pitch, Snader delivered an RBI base hit, and Donmoyer scored on Cody Snyders' bases-loaded walk.

Keener, who went 4-for-5, then stretched the lead to 9-0 in the second on an RBI base hit which drove in Lawrence, who had a two-out single and stole second.

Snader and Lawrence finished with three hits apiece, while Adams was 2-for-3 to help lead the offensive attack.

Garden Spot answered with four runs in the fourth inning to get some life, but Lititz tacked on three more runs in the fifth to make it 12-4. Darren Erb had a leadoff single, Garner and Lawrence walked, Keener stroked an RBI base hit, and Evan Wingenroth connected for a two-run single to right field.

The Odd Fellows completed their scoring with four runs in the seventh. Tyler Wentzel and Garner walked, Lawrence socked a two-run double, and then after Wingenroth was hit by a pitch, Snyder had a two-run single.

Garner and D.J. Johnson pitched the final four innings in relief.

In a back-and-forth battle against SWS on Tuesday night in a make-up game, Lititz raced to an early 3-0 lead. In the first inning, Garner hit a one-out single, Lawrence walked and both runners advanced on Keener's sac and scored on Donmoyer's two-out, two-run single.

Woolley's RBI single drove in Nolt, who got on base on an error, to make it 3-0 in the top of the second inning.

But Solanco tied it on Jeff Ferguson's three-run double in the bottom of the second, and they took their first lead with a three-spot in the fourth inning.

The Odd Fellows, though, erupted for seven runs in the fifth to pull in front 10-6. They did their damage with five hits and two walks, starting with base hits by Woolley and Snyder. Adams then followed with an RBI single and Garner walked to load the bases.

Next, Lawrence smacked a two-run double, Keener added an RBI fielder's choice, Donmoyer had a two-run single, Snader worked a free pass, Nolt hit a sac fly, and Snader scored the final run on a passed ball.

Unfortunately, however, it wasn't enough, as Solanco made it a one-run game with three in the bottom of the fifth and then they scored the tying run in their final at-bats.

Eventually, Solanco pushed across the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Donmoyer and Woolley had three hits each, and Keener went 2-for-4 in the losing cause. Although Lititz outhit Solanco 16-15, they were unable to overcome a couple of errors.

Snader went the distance on the hill for the Odd Fellows and suffered the loss. He whiffed four and walked one.

Hoping to bounce back from that loss one night later, the Odd Fellows found themselves in a 4-0 hole after two innings.

But they chipped away at the deficit with a three-run third. Evan High reached on an error and scored on Adams' RBI double. Lawrence then added an RBI base hit and scored when Donmoyer reached on an error.

In the fourth, the Odd Fellows added four more runs to go ahead 7-4. Deron Thompson stroked a double to the right-center field gap and scored on High's RBI double. Garner then hit an RBI base hit, Keener followed with an RBI triple to left center, and Donmoyer had an RBI base hit.

After SWS got one back in the fourth, the Odd Fellows added two insurance runs in the fifth on D.J. Johnson's one-out double, Thompson's RBI single, and Adams' RBI fielder's choice, making it 9-5.

And when Woolley reached on an error and scored on Kris Cullen's RBI base hit in the top of the seventh, the Odd Fellows looked to be in good shape. But it wasn't meant to be, as SWS scored five runs in their final at-bats to deal the Odd Fellows a heartbreaking loss.

For the game, Donmoyer threw 116 pitches while going the distance. He struck out seven, walked four, and scattered 13 hits.

"We knew we were going to have to (go deep) with Jordan," Camera said. "Jordan did enough to get the win for us. The loss shouldn't be put on him. We had some mental errors."

Keener was 3-for-4 and Adams, Garner, and Thompson all had two hits apiece to lead the Odd Fellows' 14-hit attack.
