Besides being a very
dedicated student, she also has a number of volunteer activities. She has
volunteered at Water Street Rescue Mission at Thanksgiving and in the
summer with her church youth group. Anna credits her interest in community
involvement to her association with Girl Scouts and her church youth group.
It is through some of these activities that she has learned the importance
and necessity of community service for others. She has been a member of the
Girl Scouts for eleven years. In her sophomore year, she received the Girl
Scout's Silver Award for doing 30 hours of community service. For her
project, she planted shrubs and fixed up the cemetery at her church. She
has been the president of the church youth group for four years and has
taught vacation bible school for the last six years.
To round out
her many activities, school involvements and talents, she also participates
in sports and is a very athletic young lady. She has been a member of the
tennis team all four years. She ran distance on the Middle School track
team. She then participated on the track team the last three years at
Warwick High School as a pole-vaulter. Anna also served as the Varsity
wrestling manager all four years.
In her spare time she enjoys
running, swimming and spending time with her family. As if she isn't
busy enough, this past year Anna has also taken on a part time job at
Starbucks.
Upon graduation from Warwick High School, Anna plans to
attend Penn State University at the main campus to study business, majoring
in accounting.
It is with great honor that the Lititz Woman's
Club acknowledges Anna Barclay as our June 2008 student of the month.
