Twenty years ago, some were up in arms about Walmart’s plans to build a super store on farmland that is now home to the Shoppes at Kissel Village. I.H. Doster’s general merchandise store at 48 E. Main St. was the Walmart of its day, along with early 20th century department stores like Pfautz Bros. at 28 E. Main St. and Zartman’s at the corner of Broad and Front streets.
