Woodrow H. Ranck, Sr., 100, Luther Acres, was active in Ephrata community, Gerber Co. retiree

Woodrow H. Ranck, Sr., 100, a resident of Luther Acres, formerly a longtime resident of Ephrata, PA, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Luther Acres.

Born in Ephrata, Woody was a son of the late John and Cora (Hacker) Ranck. His wife, the late Pauline M. (Snyder) Ranck passed away in 2005.

Woody was a 1931 graduate of Ephrata High School. He worked at the former W.W. Moyer Co. and Gerber Co. in Ephrata for 45 years, retiring in 1979 as the Vice President in Charge of Cutting Operations.

A member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ephrata, Woody had served as Church Councilman, Sunday School Superintendent, and was a member of the church choir.

Woody was a former Ephrata Borough Councilman and member of the Ephrata Blue Lodge 665 F&AM and Ephrata Golden Years Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and member of Four Pines Hunting Club in Potter County.

Surviving is one daughter: Karen L., wife of Ronald Corson of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; one son: Woodrow H. Ranck, Jr., husband of Ann, of Adamstown; one grandson: David Corson, husband of Helen; and one great-grandson: Luke Corson, all of Franklinville, N.J.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 160 E. Main St., Ephrata, at noon on Saturday, June 7 and will be officiated by the Rev. Henry E. Herbener. Friends will be received at Trinity Church for one hour prior to the service.Place of interment will be Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery, Ephrata Township.
