Habitat for Humanity treasurer
Suzanne "Sue" Barbara Leed, 51, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at her residence, following a six-year battle with cancer.
Sue worked at various banking institutions in Lititz and Ephrata and was last employed by Susquehanna Bank, Lincoln, as the branch manager.
She was born in Ephrata to Francis J. and Barbara (Heisey) McCaffrey of Denver and was the wife of David B. Leed with whom she shared 21 years of marriage this past Sept. 19. Sue was baptized and attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata. She was a 1980 graduate of Cocalico High School.
Involved in banking all of her working career, she was named a bank manager at age 19. She was a member of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce and served as a member and treasurer on the board of Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity. She enjoyed riding motorcycle with her husband, spending time with the Triple F’s, wrapping Christmas gifts, Sudoku puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her dogs, Sadie and Callie. A caring person, she took great pleasure in doing and giving to others.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son: Nickolas M., husband of Jodee (Peters) Berry of Ephrata; three daughters: Stephanie, wife of Troy Shellhammer of Ephrata;, Heather, wife of Will Barr of Ephrata; Jessica, wife of Ray Horning of Ephrata; three grandchildren: Evan Bruno, William Barr Jr., Karissa Berry; a brother: Daniel, husband of Lana McCaffrey of Wexford and two nephews: John and Tom McCaffrey.
A mass of Christian burial was held Sept. 30 at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata, with Father John McLoughlin, C.SS.R. as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will take place in the Hopeland Cemetery.
