Robert J. ‘Luddie’ Ludwig, 86, Lititz H.S. grad, Korea vet, worked at Woodstream, Philly sports fan

Robert J. Ludwig, 86, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the VA Hospital, Lebanon.

He was the loving husband of Virginia (Ranck) Ludwig. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Russell and Ruth (Shelley) Ludwig.

He graduated Lititz High School in 1949. Bob proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. After his time in the service, Bob worked at RCA, and later Woodstream as a shipping clerk. Bob was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 56. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

Bob is also survived by a sister: Carol, wife of Roger Groce, of Mount Gretna; and a brother: Richard, husband of Mary Ludwig, of Mountville; four godchildren: Lisa (Shelley) Bowman, Neil Shelley Jr., and Dina Keller, all of Lititz; and Tracey (Keller) Bradley, Garnet Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by siblings: Audra Steinman, Kenneth Ludwig, Patricia Hoffer, and Thomas Ludwig (Christine).

Services will be graveside at the Lititz Moravian Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., with his nephew, Pastor Gerald Reifsnyder, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in Bob’s memory to VA Medical Center, Attn: Hospice Unit 1-4B, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
