Richard J. Yench, 69, Army vet, enjoyed boating, and spending time with his friends at the VFW

Richard J. “The Duke” Yench, 69, of Lititz, and formerly of Queens, N.Y., died Monday, May 30, 2016, in his residence.

Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Daniel Anthony Yench of Lititz, and formerly of Brooklyn.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 7336 in Queens. Duke enjoyed boating, betting on the horses at the track, and spending time with friends at the VFW post.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers: Robert A. and his wife Joan, of South Carolina; and Ronald P. and his wife Angie of Arizona; a sister: Patricia Jakobsen and her husband John of Lititz; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held June 3 at George Werst Funeral Home, Glendale, N.Y. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, N.Y.
