Nevin O. Garner, 80, worked at Elizabethtown College, family man, loved the outdoors

Nevin O. Garner, 80, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at Moravian Manor.

Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Victor and Marie Ober Garner. Nevin was the loving husband of Carol Miller Garner, and they observed their 59th wedding anniversary in October.

Nevin retired from Elizabethtown College as the associate director of database support in January 2001 after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill. Nevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family in Eagles Mere. He had a life-long passion for his family and he devoted his life to spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol, are three sons: Kevin D., husband of Kellie Garner, of Palmyra; Randall E. Garner of Lititz; Jeffrey A., husband of Kim Garner, of Manheim; a daughter: Holly J., wife of David Holsinger, of Manheim; eight grandchildren: Jared, Colin, Tom, Abby, Stephanie, Tim, Ben, Katy; two brothers: Fred, husband of Carolyn Garner; and Dale, husband of Sharon Garner, all of Lititz; and a sister-in-law: Barbara Garner of Manheim.

Preceding him in death is a brother: Gary Garner.

Nevin’s funeral was held Dec. 2 at Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, Lititz. Interment was in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
