John M. Votano, 79, Army vet, Comcast dispatcher, ham radio enthusiast, NY Giants fan

John M. Votano, 79, of Lititz, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Union City, N.J., he was the son of the late Paul and Matilda (Goebel) Votano.

He worked at Verizon for many years and most recently worked as a dispatcher for Comcast for more than 23 years. John was a ham radio enthusiast for more than 60 years.

He loved his trains, his cats, Indy car racing, and was a huge New York Giants football fan, but most of all, was a very outgoing man who loved to make people smile and laugh. John proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his children: John Votano of Tappahannock, Va.; Donna Votano of Lititz; Philip Votano, husband of Chei, of Japan; Anthony and Michael Votano, both of Manheim; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Aug. 1 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, with full military honors.
