Janet Kurtz Greensmith, 86, elementary school teacher, Salem Lutheran member, avid gardener

Janet Kurtz Greensmith, 86, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Luther Acres.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Evelyn H. Eby Kurtz.

Janet taught at several elementary schools over the years, most recently at Tabernacle Christian School, Sarasota, Fla. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, Lititz, and the Church Women’s Group. She loved teaching, gardening, reading, collecting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Janet will be missed by four children: J. Eric (Kelly) Greensmith, Lancaster; Lynn Greensmith-Annino (Doug), Hereford, Ariz.; Nancy Jones (Rich), Travelers Rest, S.C.; K. Alan (Kitty) Greensmith, Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and a brother: Ken Kurtz (Rachel), Palmyra.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Susan Elaine Greensmith.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz. The family will greet friends after the service.
