James R. Farmer, 77, PCA machine operator, train collector, enjoyed time spent with family

James R. Farmer, 77, of Lititz, passed away on Aug. 19, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Lancaster Junction, he was the son of the late Richard and Marie (Weinand) Farmer. Jim was the husband of Shirley A. (Hackman) Farmer, and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He was a machine operator for PCA with 45 years of service. Jim collected trains, enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family, and most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley; are two children: Michael Farmer, husband of Wannetta, of Pawleys Island, S.C.; and Vickie Leid, wife of Bryan, of Denver; four grandchildren: Dan Leid, Shaun Leid, Samantha Farmer, and Ben Leid; and three great-grandchildren: Ethan Farmer, Jameson Leid, and Beau Leid.

Jim was preceded in death by a grandson: Matthew Farmer.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Jim will be laid to rest at Brunnerville United Methodist Cemetery.
