Gertrude D. Barnes, 72, enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren

Gertrude D. “Trudy” Barnes, 72, of Weeki Wachee, Fla., formerly of Lititz, passed away at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center on Nov. 30, 2016.

She was the wife of Ronald M. Barnes with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage April 23. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude Tobler Doyle.

She was a member of the Malvern Free Presbyterian Church, Malvern; and also attended the Bethel Baptist Church of Newport Richey, Fla. She enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; as well as her daily devotional time reading her Bible and in prayer with her Savior.

Surviving besides her husband are five children: Ronald, husband of Candace Durbin Barnes, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Christian R., husband of Jodie Simmons Barnes, of Greenville, S.C.; Timothy, husband of Sarah Giles Barnes, of Lake Orion, Mich.; Kathleen G., wife of Mitchell Hertzler, of Narvon; Megan Barnes of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; sister: Jane Toner of Holland.

She was preceded in death by a son: Mark Daniel Barnes; and a brother: Joseph E., husband of Patricia Crump Doyle, of Fountainville.

Services were held Dec. 3 at Malvern Free Presbyterian Church, Malvern, with Pastor Stephen Hamilton officiating. Interment took place in the Media Cemetery, Media.
