Deaths of Local Interest – Reported Oct. 8, 2015

Anna (Coble) Brenner, 96, a homemaker, of Conestoga, entered into rest Sept. 28 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. Anna worked at Millersville University before retiring in 1981 after fifteen years of service. Her daughter, Kay B., married to Andrew B. Myers, lives in Lititz.

Gladys C. Finnefrock, 87, of Lancaster, died peacefully Sept. 29 at Conestoga View. Born in Ephrata, she retired from Slaymaker Lock Company. Gladys was also a caring homemaker and worked for Kreider Stores. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster. Her son, Rodney Bisking, resides in Manheim. Her sister, Geraldine Johns, lives in Lititz.

Nancy Mary Hollinger, 90, passed away Oct. 1 at Brethren Village, Lancaster. She met her loving husband, Richard E. Hollinger, Manheim in England while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. They were married in England in 1945 and were married 69 years. Richard preceded her in death 13 days earlier. After arriving in the United States, she worked at RCA and Schwam’s watch factory. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brethren Village for their thoughtfulness and caring during her 9½ years in nursing care.

Gene V. Lefever, 83, of New Holland, entered into rest Oct. 4. Gene graduated from the former Quarryville High School, class of 1951, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the former Zausner Foods Corporation as a night foreman. Gene was a motorcycle enthusiast. His sister, Dorothy Nye Derr, lives in Lititz.

Rachel R. Martin, 93, of Ephrata, passed away Oct. 1 at Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata. Rachel was a member of the Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, and was a homemaker. Three of her children reside in Lititz: Gerald S., husband of Mabel (Hoover) Martin; Brian R., husband of Mary Jane (Hursh) Martin; and Ruth N., wife of Mervin Martin.

Raymond W. Nolt, 94, of Stevens, passed away Oct. 1 at his residence. He was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference; was a farmer and parts cutter for Sun Line Corp. His brother, Willis, husband of Emma Nolt, lives in Manheim.

Elizabeth Upchurch Putt, 89, formerly of Palmyra, passed away Sept. 28 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Elizabeth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Palmyra, and a former member of the Palmyra Junior Woman’s Club and the Lebanon Country Club. Her daughter, Lugenia A Rozman, wife of Frank, resides in Lititz.

Jeffrey L. Rhinier, 60, of Lancaster, passed on to a better place Oct. 3 at Lancaster General Hospital. For the last 30 years, he held employment with various local restaurants, including House of Pizza. Jeff had a lifelong passion for slow-pitch softball. He played on a local league for many years and then managed the Farrell team. He also enjoyed horse racing and a good hand of Texas Hold’em. His sister, Donna M., wife of Douglas E. Snavely, live in Lititz.

Isaac S. Zook, 78, of Gordonville, died Oct. 2 in Harrison Valley. He was retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. A daughter, Mary S., wife of Elam K. Glick, lives in Manheim.
