Deaths of Local Interest – Nov. 1, 2018

Jacqueline (Jackie) Newcomer, 96, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 28 at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Jacqueline worked at the former Hamilton Watch Factory until she enlisted in the U S Navy WAVES. She rose to the rank of Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class and was given an honorary discharge in November of 1945. After marrying, she became a partner in farming for well over 30 years. During some of that time, she also operated Newcomer’s Greenhouse. Her daughter, Suzanne D. Kopp, wife of Edwin, lives in Manheim.
Anna Lois Redcay, 76, of Ephrata, passed away Oct. 27 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was a member of the Alive Church, Ephrata. Lois was an LPN for Ephrata Community Hospital for 40 years before retiring in 2007. She enjoyed playing cards, as well as other games and dining with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her son, Gary, husband of Jennifer Lynn (Heistand) Redcay, lives in Lititz.
Ruth Blough Stoltzfus, of Lancaster, died Oct. 22 at Landis Homes, Lititz. Ruth attended evening classes earning an LPN certificate and worked in nursing homes in Akron and Lancaster. She was active in child evangelism and went into homes and taught Bible stories with flannel graph. She was a charter member of Monterey Mennonite Church and Forest Hills Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, and spending time with her family.
