Deaths of Local Interest – Dec. 29, 2016

Walter Z. Burkholder, 92, formerly of Leola, passed away Dec. 21 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Rapho Township, he was a member of Metzler’s Mennonite Church. Walter was a machine operator for Sperry New Holland for many years; after retiring, he worked part time for Oregon Dairy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family playing cards, especially the game of Rook. His daughter, Judy, wife of Clyde Brandt, lives in Elm.

Rodman C. Martin, 73, Lancaster, died Dec. 21 at Lancaster General Hospital. Rod was a retired salesman at Ziemer Buick and Turner Buick. He was a leasing manager at B. Z. Mellinger Ford and worked at the former RCA in the tube division. He was an avid fisherman. His brother, Clarence husband of Carla-Donna Martin; and mother-in-law, Louise Hoffmann, reside in Lititz.

Robert V. Naimoli, 63, passed away suddenly Dec. 17. Bob worked as an electrician and tradesman at both the Sunship and Drydock Co. in Chester and Artic Glacier in Twin Oaks. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed going to the beach and attending rock concerts. His daughter, Denis Shaw (Chris), lives in Manheim.

Lester Eugene Ramsey, 88, of Denver, died Dec. 25 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Lester was the manager of the packaging department for Walter W. Moyer Company, and a manager of outlet stores for Gerber Children’s Wear.  He served in the US Army during World War II where he was a chauffeur for Generals Douglas MacArthur and Charles Willoughby. He was a practical joker, outdoorsman, and a Phillies fan. His daughter, Julie A., wife of David Emrhein, lives in Lititz
