Catherine M. Gleason, 97, mother of three, St. James Catholic Church parishioner

Catherine Marie (Best) Gleason, 97, of Lititz, died Wednesday, Aug.17, 2016, at Moravian Manor.

Born in Scranton, she was the wife of the late Robert Emmet Gleason, who died in 1984. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Loftus) Best.

Catherine spent most of her life in Dover, N.J., where she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her life revolved around her church. In Lititz, she was a former member of St. James Catholic Church.

Catherine is survived by three sons and their spouses: Robert and Emily Gleason of Palm Harbor, Fla.; William and Lisa Gleason of Lititz; and Patrick and Irini Gleason of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Mary Padden.

Services were held Aug. 22 at St. James Catholic Church, with Rev. James O’Blaney, C.Ss.R., as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Lackawanna County.
