Brentwood Samuel Shunk, 92, WWII vet, VP of the Lancaster Division of PPL, chair of LGH board

Brentwood Samuel Shunk, 92, longtime resident of the Columbia area, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Luthercare, Lititz.

He was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y., and served during World War II in U.S. Maritime Service in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean Theaters and in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked for PPL for 43 years, retiring as vice president of the Lancaster Division in 1989. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown.

He served on boards of many civic and volunteer organizations, including Lancaster Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Lancaster Farmland Trust, and the Manufacturer’s Association of Lancaster County. He also chaired boards of Lancaster General Hospital and the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Surviving are his daughter: Brenda Stuckey (Gene); son: Brentwood Shunk (Mary Jean); grandchildren: Gene Stuckey, Daniel Stuckey, Matthew Stuckey, Ashleigh Shunk, and Lucy Shunk; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Douglas Shunk; and his infant son: Samuel Shunk.

A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family with interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Luthercare, 400 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, PA 17543; the Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown; or to a charity of your choice.
