Betty J. Roland, 72, Denver Nursing Home activities coordinator, animal lover, enjoyed gardening

Betty J. Roland, 72, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Ephrata to Ruth (Good) Burkhart, of Fairmount Homes, and the late John Burkhart, and was the wife of Terry L. Roland, with whom she would have shared 53 years of marriage on Nov. 21.

Betty was an animal lover, especially dogs and cats, and she had a special bird. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds, and doing arts and crafts. Betty worked as an activities coordinator for Denver Nursing Home.

In addition to her mother and husband, Betty is survived by two sons: Troy L. Roland and wife Leanne of Ephrata; Shaun W. Roland and wife Liz of Lititz; six grandchildren: Amanda, Katrina, Brandon, Alyssa, Preston, and Addison; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Shirley and husband, Paul Weaver; two brothers: Wilmer Burkhart and wife Maryanne, and John Burkhart Jr. and wife Ann.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver.
