Barbara A. Brosey, 79, executive director of the Manheim library, Jerusalem Church music director

Barbara A. Brosey, 79, formerly of Lancaster, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown where she was residing.

She was the widow of the late James R. Brosey Jr., who died in 2004. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late John C. and Meda (Koehler) Blanck.

Barbara was the former executive director of the Manheim Community Library for 24 years before retiring in 2005. Previous employment was as a teacher for Manheim Central School District at the Burgard Elementary School. She was a graduate of the former Millersville State Teachers College.

Barbara was a faithful member of Jerusalem Church, Penryn, where she was the director of the vocal and hand bell choirs for many years. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Manheim. Barbara was an avid reader, bridge player, and enjoyed camping and going to the beach. She was also a faithful volunteer at the Nearly-Nu Shop in Manheim. Relationships were important to Barbara. When Barbara gave her heart and commitment to people or causes, she gave completely, willingly, and with joy.

Surviving are three children: Gregory S., husband of Judi (Smith) Brosey, Lancaster; Karen L., wife of Bruce V. Becker Jr., Manheim; Stuart A. Brosey, Elizabethtown; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 23 at Jerusalem Church, Manheim. Interment was in Penryn Cemetery. .
