The race included two 5K runs separated by a 24-mile bike ride. Daryl Weaver, 39, of Lititz, won the event with a time of 1:33:19.08. The duathlon had been an annual triathlon, prior to Speedwell Lake being drained due to dam safety issues caused by last year's Tropical Storm Lee. The event was also part of the 21st annual United Way Day of Caring, which included 100 projects throughout Lancaster County, sponsored by PNC Bank and Lancaster General Hospital. The purpose of Day of Caring is to be a visible and meaningful demonstration of how, when a community lives united, it can become stronger and create opportunities for a better life for all. More information about the event is available at lancasterymca.org, and additional photos can be viewed at the Lancaster Family YMCA Facebook page.
