Thirty-seven diplomas Linden Hall’s class of 2013
A little rain couldn’t dampen spirits as Linden Hall held its 267th Commencement exercises May 24 at Lititz Moravian Church.
Diplomas were handed out to the 37 outstanding members of the senior class of 2013. In addition to an already impressive list of more than 130 leading college and university acceptances throughout the United States, Linden Hall graduates were accepted for the first time to University of Richmond, Colgate University, and the University of Notre Dame.
Han (Hannah) Bao ’13 was named Valedictorian and Hua (Zoe) Zhong ’13 was named Salutatorian. The featured guest at Commencement this year was renowned pianist and Linden Hall alumna Xiaopei Xu ’10, who is currently attending the New England Conservatory.
Academic awards of achievement were presented at Baccalaureate services on May 24 and at Commencement on May 25, by Headmaster Dr. Vincent M. Stumpo, Academic Dean Dr. George Scouten, and members of the faculty.
The following senior class special merit awards were presented at Baccalaureate and at Commencement:
Linden Hall Medal – for representing the qualities of our 4 C’s program: character, curriculum, culture and conditioning: Hua (Zoe) Zhong
Character, Conduct, and Achievement Class of 1925 Prize – for outstanding character, conduct, and achievement: Jiayi (Jenny) Mao
Spirit of Linden Hall Award – for representing the "Spirit of Linden Hall": Katherine Galvis
Class of 1990 Prize – for demonstrating outstanding qualities of school citizenship: Eliyahna Carrington
Mimi Haubner Activities Award – for demonstrating the ideals of good sportsmanship, both on the athletic field and in general relationships with others: Katherine Galvis
"Lindy" Award for Drama: Katherine Galvis and Alexandra Sethi
Alumnae Association Award for Music: Ji Young (Jenny) Kim
Orchestra Award: Ji Young (Jenny) Kim
Master Musician award: Alexandra Sethi
Discrete Math Award: Yu (Tina Q) Qin
AP Statistics Award: Han (Hannah) Bao
Dr. Harry Bender Memorial Prize for Fine Arts:Yanxin (Tina) Zhang
Social Studies Award: Roshni Bham
Science Award: Han (Hannah) Bao
Chorus Award: Cancan (Lareina) Li
Annelise Vidal Photography Award: – for demonstrating a talent and passion for the art of photography: Roshni Bham
M.W. Brennecke Award for Technology: Yangyuqi (Olive) Chang
Gold Four Award – For more than a century, recognition has been given to those girls in the upper school at Linden Hall who have earned the Linden Hall honor award, known as Gold Four. Election to this group is confined to those girls who, by reason of their school citizenship, have been considered worthy of special honors. These girls have shown through their social, personal, civic, and co-curricular contributions to Linden Hall that they deserve the Gold Four Award. The first year award winners receive the Gold Four pin. After the first year, the recipients will receive a gold 4 to attach to their pin. This year’s recipients were: Roshni Bham, Andrea Keeney, Eliyahna Carrington, Wanxin (Iris) Huang, Katherine Galvis, and Yuanyuan (Bridget) Wang.
Election to May Court – Being chosen for May Court means that you are being recognized for making outstanding contributions to life at Linden Hall: Alex Varni and Hua (Zoe) Zhong
Linden Hall celebrates the achievements of the class of 2013 and congratulates them as they continue on in their academic pursuits and become the leaders of their generation.
