Teddy Bear Day this Saturday
A coloring contest, bear parade, bounce castle, giraffe strongman game, and popcorn are among the new additions added to this year’s Teddy Bear Day in the Park by The Lititz Women of Today.
The event is slated for Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lititz Springs Park.
In addition to over 15 games and crafts, gently loved bears and friends will be available for adoption for a nominal fee.
Prizes will be awarded at each game with additional tickets awarded for achieving certain skills. The tickets can be redeemed for larger prizes including stuffed bears, toys, books, candy, or gift certificates from the Brickerville House Restaurant, Isaac’s Deli, Café Chocolate and Bistro, Tropical Smoothies, Appierances Salon and GeeGee’s Salon. Additional prizes are being supplied by Candy*ology, Teddy Bear Emporium, Bombergers, Aaron’s Books, Giant Foods, Stauffers, Weis Market, and other local merchants.
Also new this year will be several displays and activities from local organizations including the Lititz Borough Police Department, the Lititz Rec Center, and the Little Gym. A representative from Noah’s Ark Workshop (noahsarkworkshop.com) will have a selection of bears that children can stuff and take home to love, ranging in price from $13 to $18.
There is no charge for admission to the event, the displays, or the coloring contest. The Bear Parade entry fee is $1. Tickets are required for each game and activity and are priced at four for $1 or 25 for $5 with no game or activity costing more than 4 tickets.
Proceeds will benefit the Sweet Pea Project, sweetpeaproject.org.
Interested organizations or individuals who wish to participate in Teddy Bear Day and/or additional information can be obtained through the Lititz Women of Today website: lititzwomenoftoday.googlepages.com by e-mail at LititzWomenofToday@gmail.com, or by phone at 449-3934.
