Photo by Stephen Seeberâ?©Monday afternoon commuters stuck in rush hour traffic on East Newport Road could see the tower of thick black smoke for miles. An oil leak at the PPL electrical substation in Warwick Township caused a fire that knocked out power for more than 6,000 people and shut down traffic signals along one of the areaâ??s biggest roadways. Three hours after the fire began, the facility at Clay and Pine Hill roads was safe to enter. PPL line foreman Jason Hans Herr (above) briefs Brunnerville firefighters prior to the use of dry chem to douse the final flames.
