Movie in the Park Storytelling while waiting for the dark

By on July 13, 2011

On July 15, after nightfall, about 8:30 p.m., the movie "Akeelah and the Bee" will be shown at the Lititz Springs Park.

Sponsored by the Moravian Manor, this film is a story about "goodness under pressure" at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.

At 8 p.m., StoryPartners, a Lititz-based storytelling company, will lead the audience in a fun spelling bee using words unique to Lititz, spiced with a few championship words from the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

StoryPartners will also bring David Krak to the stage. David, a semi-finalist in the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee, has been dubbed "The Spelling Ninja" by his Warwick Middle School Quiz Bowl teammates. Krak is also the 2011 Lancaster County Spelling Bee Champion. He will share his story about spelling bee competition and offer tips for prospective spelling bee champions.

David Worth and Brenda Burkholder, a husband and wife team, are the owners of StoryPartners, LLC, a storytelling company with a focus on compassion, tolerance and understanding. StoryPartners draw from a cache of stories gathered over the last 20 years of traveling and listening to people in over 30 countries.
