Taste of the Town – February 20, 2014 Edition
How can Pork & Wally’s make it better when it’s cold and icy outside? How about hot chocolate and a deep rich salted caramel brownie with a pretzel crust? How about a plate of hearty meatloaf with comforting mac & cheese?
Would a big bowl of secret-recipe chili cheer you up? Or maybe some creamy Lancaster County-style potato chowder? If you’re an oyster-lover, a delicious fried oyster platter with tartar sauce and two tasty sides might just chase away the chill.
At Pork & Wally’s, they know how to make winter special, with nightly specials that give even the classics a new twist. On Monday, try the Pork & Sauerkraut special with mashed potatoes. Tuesday is that comforting meatloaf and mac & cheese, that sure beats that stuff in a box. Wednesday is a new adventure with Wild Game Wednesday, with game provided by the Savory Gourmet on North Broad Street, Lititz. Here’s your chance to try something new, like Pheasant Sausage, Bison Shepherd’s Pie or Elk-stuffed Cabbage.
Thursday is Pasta Night, and what a night it is, with specials that might include Stuffed Shells or Macaroni with Sweet Sausage. Friday is Crab Cake Night and everyone loves the amazing jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. Then on Saturday, join chef (and owner) Mark Wolownik for the Chef’s Choice or Pot Luck, which is always outstanding.
January marked the first anniversary for Pork & Wally’s, owned by Mark and Jennifer Wolownik. The fun eatery is known for.. “Good food, good meat, and good gosh almighty… Let’s eat!”
Everybody loves the roasted house specialty sandwiches, like chopped Chicken, Wet Beef and the award-wining Pulled Pork sandwich. There are also all sorts of soups like the award-winning Almost Famous Chili, starters like Black & Tan Beer Battered Onion Rings, and steak or chicken sandwiches, classic sandwiches and burgers. After 4 p.m., There are dinner entrees, such as the Roast Pulled pork with two sides. The sides, by the way, include roasted potatoes, cole slaw, sweet potato fries and more.
Pork & Wally’s has some fun changes coming up. They will be putting up a sandwich rail along the window, so that you can relax and enjoy the view of downtown Lititz while you indulge in great food. They are also planning a deli case and a grab ‘n go section, with gourmet sandwiches, entrees, sides and desserts that make mealtimes extra easy.
“If you have any catering events coming up, call us,” says Mark, adding that the Catering Menu is ideal for breakfast, late night and everything in between, for groups of all sizes like dinner parties, business lunches and more.
