The 18th annual Rothsville Community Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forney Field on Church Street, Rothsville.

The day will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run/Walk sponsored by WellSpan Family & Pediatric Medicine, Rothsville. Registration for the run begins at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the $10 registration fee will benefit WellSpan’s Prescription for Caring program, which provides assistance for those who cannot afford vital medications.

Free registration for all other events begins at 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m to 1 p.m. children can enjoy face painting, spin art, a bounce castle, barrel train rides, games and other activities. The annual helicopter candy drop, sponsored by the Rothsville Ambulance Association, will take place at 10:45 a.m. It is open to all children 12 and under. In the afternoon, character juggler Chris Ivey will astound attendees with his award winning feats.

Kay Moyer, educator on farm safety for Penn State’s Extension Department, will be attending with her crew, highlighting dental safety, fire safety, and Lyme disease. An egg toss, three-legged race, wheelbarrow race, and pie eating contest are planned. There will be two age groups for each contest: children and adult. Door prizes from local businesses will be drawn throughout the day.

The event is sponsored by Rothsville area churches (Jerusalem Lutheran, Millport Mennonite, St. Paul’s E.C., and Salem United Methodist), in conjunction with the Rothsville Fire Company and the Rothsville Ambulance Association.
