Two upcoming events will be held at Brick Gables, 800 E. Newport Road, Lititz, to benefit Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Montego Bay and Stone’s Hope, Jamaica. The events are being sponsored by a group of local businessmen, known as PA Partners for YWAM Jamaica.

The second event is a free concert on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. All ages are invited to this concert by Kevin Smith, a Jamaican reggae artist. Also invited to speak on this evening are Jared and Audra Peifer, who have been working with YWAM through an organization known as Caribbean Resource Center.

The funds raised will be used for some building projects at both bases. In Montego Bay, the Skills Training Center is currently under construction and will be used to train, mentor, teach and grow Jamaican students in valuable work and life skills. The center will also be used for literacy classes for both children and adults. In Stone’s Hope, the reconstruction of the right wing of the Great House is underway, but more funds are needed to bring it to completion. It was damaged in a hurricane more than 10 years ago. Merlene Pryce, director at Stone’s Hope, was so thankful that for the funds from last year’s event to get the project started.

“The Great House is coming along very nicely. As we dream with the Lord, we hope to see the Great House be fully restored to use it as a Retreat and Counseling Center,” Pryce said. “Thank you for dreaming with us and for helping this become a reality.”
