Paul James Mackredis of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Lititz, was welcomed into the Arms of his Savior Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.
Paul was born July 4, 1923 to the late James Paul Mackredis and Anastacia (Lascarides). He graduated from New Holland High School in 1940. From 1943 to 1945, he served as a merchant seaman in World War II. He worked at Hamilton Technology for 44 years, retiring in 1986. In 1987, he began working at Stauffers of Kissel Hill, where he was well recognized as the friendly face greeting customers. He left SKH in 2007.
He was a long-time member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Lancaster and was a devout Sunday School teacher in the high school department. He most recently was a member of Hosanna Christian Fellowship in Lititz.
Paul enjoyed traveling with friends, spending time with his family, and taking long walks with his beloved pets. Paul loved listening to music from the big band era and Frank Sinatra. He was an exercise enthusiast and loved being outside in nature. He will most be remembered for his love of people, infectious smile and positive attitude.
Paul is survived by daughter: Paulette "Rocky" Scott and her husband Barry, who was Paul’s right hand man to the very end. Also surviving are granddaughters: Aprille and Jaimie Baxter, who Paul raised as his own children; grandsons: Pete Fellman, husband of Lori; and Paul James Scott, husband of Sherry; and several great-grandchildren whom Paul loved very dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Velma (Horst); his daughter: Andrea Mackredis Baxter; and two sisters: Anastasia Custis and Sophia Keares.
A life celebration will be held in Paul’s honor on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. at Hosanna Christian Fellowship, 29 Green Acre Road in Lititz.
