Elsie L. West 79, loved gardening, camping and spending time with her family
Elsie L. West, 79, of Lititz, went to meet with her Lord Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Esther I. Adamire Herman.
She was the wife of Robert L. West, Sr. They were married for 33 years on July 7.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son: Steven E. (Debra L.) Gochnauer; two daughters: Vicki L. (James) Lee and Karen L. (Douglas) Williams; two stepsons: Robert L. (Barb) West, Jr. and Edward (Rosie) West; five grandchildren: S. Trevor (Alicia L.) Gochnauer, April H. (Brenden) Trego, Alyssa P. Williams, Sara J. Williams, Nicholas J. Williams; two step-grandchildren: Derek (Laurie) West, Tanya West; five great-grandchildren: Ella R. Trego, Charlotte F. Williams, Taylor H. Gochnauer, Tucker C. Trego, Carter S. Gochnauer and Baby Trego coming in February; two step-great-grandchildren: Lilie West and Hayden West; five brothers and sisters: Betty (Robert) Eby, Lester C. (Evie) Herman, Esther (Luther) Kistler, Richard (Dotty) Herman and Robert E. Herman. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur T. and Walter E. Herman.
Most important in Elsie’s life was spending time with her loving family, husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elsie attended the former West Lampeter High School. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital, where she worked in the cafeteria for 17 years. She was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, camping at Pequea Silver Mines and White Oak Campground, and traveling on bus trips to Nashville, Florida and Alaska.
Elsie’s life celebration service will be held at Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St., Thursday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Lititz U.M. Church in her memory.
