Lady Warriors fall to Ship and Dallastown
The Warwick girls basketball team nailed five 3-pointers while trying to overcome a double-digit deficit in the first half last Friday to Shippensburg.
They got within seven points heading to the final stanza, but eventually came up a little bit short in a 56-44 loss to the Lady Greyhounds in the opening-round of the Cumberland Valley Holiday Tournament.
The Lady Warriors then suffered a 47-22 loss to Dallastown on Saturday in the consolation game and fell to 0-9 on the season.
Sophomore Alexa Mohler had two of the Lady Warriors’ triples against Shippensburg and finished with seven points to share team-high scoring honors with Greta Weidemoyer.
The Lady Greyhounds, up 18-11 after one, outscored Warwick 12-4 in the second to grab a 15-point lead at the break.
Warwick, though, came out strong in the third and used an 18-10 surge to pull within 40-33 heading to the final eight minutes. But Ship, despite shooting just 8-of-18 from the foul line, managed to hold on in the fourth.
Alicia Johnson scored 14 points to lead three Lady Greyhound players in double figures. Shayla Keller and Sarah Lyman finished with 10 points apiece.
Last Saturday, Dallastown seniors Jenna Jackson and Shannon Thomas finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the Lady Wildcats took a 23-6 lead after and never trailed.
Kate Martin and Lauren Snader each hit a pair of 3-pointers and led Warwick with six points apiece. More LADY WARRIORS, page B-4
