Eloise Mae Hollinger Blanck 92, taught at Manheim Central H.S.
Eloise Mae Hollinger Blanck, 92, of Manheim, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at Pleasant View Retirement Community.
Eloise was born April 6, 1920 in Lebanon to the late David and Sara Wengert Hollinger. She is survived by her husband L. Fred Blanck of Manheim. They were married Aug. 18, 1947 and celebrated their 65th anniversary last summer.
Eloise was a 1941 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She was a retired educator at the Manheim Central School District and taught French, Latin and English. She was a very active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Manheim where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and performed many duets with the late Nellie Lull. She also volunteered at the Manheim library and other local charities.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends on trips to Potter County and Ontario, Canada where the couple vacationed each summer for over 50 years. She was almost unbeatable at Scrabble and enjoyed reading, gardening and music.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View Retirement Community for the excellent care she received since relocating there.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons: David Blanck husband of Martha Kenworthy of Hershey, Philip Blanck husband of Rachel Beiler Blanck of Lititz, four grandchildren: Sarah Messersmith, Christopher Myers, Alex and Leah Blanck, and a brother Richard, husband of Helen Hollinger of Palmyra. Preceding her in death is a brother, Reynold Hollinger.
Services were held Dec. 20 at Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim; interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in East Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township.
