Wenger wins Rookie of the Week accolades
Lititz’s Andrew Wenger got his second straight start for the Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer (MLS) action.
And another honor, as well.
The 2009 Warwick High School grad buried his third goal of the season in the Impact’s 4-1 win over the Seattle Sounders in Montreal on Saturday, June 16, and as a result, he earned Soccer By Ives MLS Rookie of the Week honors.
According to soccerbyives.net, Wenger had a "classy goal and a 90-minute outing" as Montreal improved to 3-1-2 at home this year.
Wenger captured the Week 15 honors ahead of Chicago Fire centerback Austin Berry and FC Dallas centerback Matt Hedges.
Soccerbyives.net reported that Wenger is forcing head coach Jesse Marsch to decide between giving the starting nod to him and veteran Italian Bernardo Corradi.
The website was quoted as saying, "Even with Designated Player Marco Di Vaio on the way and Corradi signed through the rest of the season, Wenger appears ready to fight for his place on the field for Montreal."

Luther Killianhelped established Luther Acres
Luther Killian was a man with a mission: to build a church — literally, figuratively and spiritually. His whole life was centered on this one mission: to build a church.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915 in Lancaster of parents Andrew Clayton and Kathryn Shaeffer Killian. He was a loyal and loving husband to Jennie Elizabeth Pontz Killian and caring father to Eileen, Luther Jr. and Amy Killian.
At age 11, God saved his life when he would surely have died of gangrene appendicitis. Luther not only survived but persevered in school, community and church life. He was the youth representative to church council at an early age, and later president of the Luther League organization of Lancaster County and adjacent states. He was an early volunteer to Lutheran Social Services and helped to establish the first Lutheran Home for the aged on King Street in Lancaster city.
He was very active on "The Hill" — Cabbage Hill, hauling coal in a small wagon, delivering newspapers and working at the Acme food store.
