Ralph G. Summers91, Armstrong retiree, WWII veteran
Ralph G. Summers, 91, of Manheim, died peacefully at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John A. and Irene V. Suter Summers. He was the loving husband of the late Mae A. Weber Summers who died in February of 2011.
In 1984 Ralph retired from Armstrong World Industries Lancaster plant after working there for over 41 years. Ralph was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and commendation ribbons. Ralph was a member of the Manheim Historical Society, Stiegel Roses Senior Citizens Group of Manheim and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in the Manheim area. He enjoyed camping, hunting and history and was a member of the See Sun Rise’n Set Camp Club, Ephrata.
Surviving are a son: Kenneth E., husband of Karen A. Summers, and a daughter: Aldine M. "Dennie," wife of Edgar J. Bergeron, all of Manheim; and a grandson: Matthew Bergeron.

Blaine R. ShaubManheim Central grad
Blaine R. Shaub, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and formerly of Manheim, passed away of natural causes Monday, Jan. 2, 2012.
Born on Sept. 16, 1961, he was the son of Frank and Nancy (Herr) Shaub, of Manheim.
Blaine was a 1980 graduate of Manheim Central High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter: J. Amber Shaub, companion of Bryan Stewart; and two grandsons: Bryan Jr. and Tyler Stewart, all of Ephrata.
Services and viewing will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Emma S. Schulmeister77, retired school teacher
Emma Sue Schulmeister, 77, of Lititz, formerly of Lancaster, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Lititz.
She was born May 28, 1934 in Abington, daughter of the late J. Ira and Edith (Zimmerman) Kreider, and was the wife of Robert F. Schulmeister Jr. for the past 34 years.
She was a retired teacher for School District of Lancaster, where she had worked for 10 years, and a member of The Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ and the Alpha Club.
She is survived by her husband: Robert; her stepdaughter: Deborah Furlow, of Lancaster; her two sisters: Edith, wife of Kevin O’Brien, of Berwyn; Nancy, wife of Charles Goding, of Hartford, Conn.; and her two grandsons: Hunter and Joel Furlow.
Funeral services were held at the Luther Acres Chapel, Lititz, on Jan. 18. Burial took place in the Longenecker’s Reformed Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Emma’s name may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County or Church of the Apostles Memorial Fund.

Harriet R. Rodger87, Girl Scout leader, Moravian guide, Meals on Wheels volunteer
Harriet R. Rodger, 87, a long-time resident of Lititz, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Luther Acres Manor.
Born in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Harriet Cunningham Fouse. She was married to Roy E. Rodger for 64 years on Sept. 24.
Harriet was a member of the Lititz Moravian Church, where she was a guide. She was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Lititz, a volunteer cook for Meals on Wheels, and she enjoyed cross-stitching and traveling; but most importantly, she was devoted to her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son: Fred, husband of Gina Martin-Rodger, of Strasburg; a daughter: Mary Lou Berkey, of Lititz; five grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson: Nicholas Berkey; and eight brothers and sisters.
Private services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Maria L. Saldana Ramirez, 48, a homemaker and native of Mexico, of Manheim, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.
She was the companion of Jose; mother of Maribel and Adriana; grandmother of four; and sister to six.
Funeral services will be held from Pearl Street United Methodist Church, 133 Pearl St., Lancaster, on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. Interment will take place in Mexico.

Lois S. Nauman82, worked at Luther Acres
Lois S. Nauman, 82, of Manheim, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster and went home to be with her Lord.
Born in Bareville, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey K. and Viola E. Urich Steffy. She was the loving wife of Eugene B. Nauman and they observed their 57th wedding anniversary in July of last year.
Lois worked for 12 years at Luther Acres in Lititz, in the food service department.
Previously, she was employed for 16 years by Lift-All Corporation in Manheim. She was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, and volunteered in the nursery department for 25 years. Her interests include counted cross stitch, reading, playing cards, singing with her siblings and baking awesome sugar cookies.
Lois had a life-long passion for her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Dennis E., husband of Lori Groves Nauman, of York; and Douglas L., husband of Deborah Kurtz Nauman, of Manheim; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Aubrey, husband of Irene Steffy, of Ephrata; and Lee, husband of Laurie Steffy, of Akron; and two sisters: Laverne, wife of Jack Haas, of Manheim; and Lyndell, wife of Robert McMullen, of Lititz.

Margaret A.MurphyLititz resident
Peggy Murphy, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mt. Joy.
She was married to Craig P. Hall for over 30 years. Born in New York City, she is the daughter of Patrick and Anne Murphy, of Lancaster.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Aisling Hall and Ciara Hall, of Philadelphia; Cormac Hall, at home; siblings: Trish Murphy, wife of Rich Eisenhart, of Lancaster; Geralyn Murphy, of Etters; and Kevin, husband of Annett Murphy, of New Jersey.
A mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 14 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster, with Rev. Paul J. Theisz as celebrant.

Nicole B. Martin3, Lititz resident
Nicole Beth Martin, 3, of Lititz, entered into rest at her home Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, from Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
She was born in Ephrata, a daughter of Roy W. and Jolene H. (Martin) Martin.
Surviving are a brother, Jeffrey Dean Martin; maternal grandparents, Harlan, husband of Lois Martin of New Washington, Ohio; paternal grandmother: Arlene Zimmerman, of Ephrata; and maternal great-grandparents: Adin, husband of Martha Martin, of Mt. Joy.
She was preceded in death by her sister: Natalie Grace Martin; and paternal grandfather: Leroy Martin.
Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, Penn Township, with Bishop Lester B. Martin officiating. Interment followed in the adjoining church cemetery.

Mildred F. Lehman93, electrical contracting assistant, Elementary school teacher
Mildred F. "Milly" Lehman, 93, formerly of East Hempfield Township, died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at Brethren Village Retirement Community, Lancaster.
Born in East Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Phares J. and Naomi Graybill Forney. Millie was the loving wife of Henry S. Lehman, and they observed their 70th wedding anniversary in June of last year.
For many years she was a homemaker who assisted her husband, Henry S. Lehman, in his electrical contracting business located in East Hempfield Township. Earlier in her life she taught in a one-room schoolhouse and also taught at East Petersburg Elementary School. She also enjoyed working part-time for S. Clyde Weaver Inc., East Petersburg. Millie was an active and faithful member of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren, East Petersburg, where she served on the church board and was the first woman chair serving for five years. A deacon emeritus, she also was active with women’s fellowship, serving as president, sang in the choir and taught Sunday and Bible school. She was a member of the Lancaster County Farm Women, Number 19, for over 55 years and served as president. Milly volunteered for Easter Seals for over 21 years and also at Brethren Village. Her interests included: oil painting, flower gardening and arranging, cooking, baking and making cookies and candy that she shared with family and friends.

Mark E. Wenrich48, Wilbur Chocolate employee, NASCAR fan
Mark E. Wenrich, 48, of Ephrata, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 in Colorado.
He was born in Ephrata to Eugene H. and Christine C. (Wolfersberger) Wenrich.
He was a member of Mohler Church of the Brethren, Ephrata. Mark was a very caring person and enjoyed NASCAR (especially Mark Martin), computers, watching Buffalo Bills football and hunting. He also enjoyed baking. Mark worked at Wilbur Chocolate, Lititz.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by a son: Justin; a daughter: Katrina; paternal grandmother: Dorothy Wenrich, of Ephrata; two sisters: Diane C., wife of Ricki L. Buchter, of Stevens; and Barbara A., wife of Eric W. Snyder, of Reinholds; a brother: Barry L. Wenrich, of Ephrata; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats.
A viewing was held at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, on Jan. 7 with Pastor Carl Brubaker officiating. Interment took place in the Mohler Brethren Cemetery.
