Bertha A. Kinard72, Raymark chevron winder
Bertha A. Kinard, 72, of Manheim, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday evening, Oct. 18, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Harrisburg, Bertha was the daughter of the late Roy Lutz and Dorothy M. Nye Steinberger. She was the wife of the late George W. H. Kinard, who died in 2007, and the late Lester Boyer, who died in 1990.
Bertha was a graduate of Middletown Area High School. Prior to retiring, she was employed for 36 years as a chevron winder by the former Raymark in Manheim. Following retirement, she was employed part-time by McDonald’s restaurant in Manheim.
Bertha was a member of Real Life Church of God in East Petersburg and of Quentin Roosevelt Lions Club in Lebanon. She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She also enjoyed photography; Bob Ross painting; listening to music, especially country music; and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter: Rhoda I. Fry, of Manheim, with whom she resided; two sons: Lester R., husband of Sue L. Boyer, of Manheim; and John C., husband of Barbara Nye, of Philadelphia; three stepdaughters: Christine L., wife of James W. Hicks, of York; Emma C. L. Kinard, of Elizabethtown; and Sharon L. M. Kinard, partner of Kristin Deck, of Elizabethtown; two stepsons: Larry G., husband of Mary Kinard, of Effington, N.C.; and Roy J. J., husband of Cheryl Kinard, of York; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister: Ruth I. Klaniecki, of East Petersburg; and a foster daughter: Tamsen L. Will, of Denver.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae "Annie" Michael.
A funeral service was held Oct. 22 at Real Life Church of God, with Bertha’s former pastor, Michael Nelson, officiating. Interment was held in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
